US Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi has sent a formal letter to Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan regarding the platform's influencer partnerships. The Illinois Democrat is requesting a detailed report on how the prediction market handles paid promotions by individuals who question election legitimacy.
The letter, which sets a July 28 deadline for a response, asks whether the company knew its partners were promoting election denialism at the time of their agreements. Krishnamoorthi seeks the identification of these entities and the specific basis for the company's awareness of their public stances.
Scrutiny of Market Incentives
The inquiry also covers internal policies governing affiliate programs and election-related market promotions. The congressman demanded access to documents dating back to January 20, 2025, including vetting records, training materials, and internal communications regarding the monitoring of paid content.
Krishnamoorthi highlighted concerns about the intersection of political influence and financial gain. He stated that these dynamics create "dangerous incentives" that may encourage "premature claims" and "misleading narratives" before election results are fully certified.
This inquiry does not allege a specific legal violation but aligns with wider legislative attention on the sector. More than two dozen federal bills currently address issues related to election contracts and insider trading within prediction markets.
